The statutory calculations Indian payroll runs on — gratuity, PF, take-home from CTC, HRA exemption and state-wise professional tax. Each one shows its working, not just an answer.
Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972
Gratuity is a lump sum an employer pays for continuous service. Enter your last drawn Basic + DA and how long you have worked to see the amount, and exactly how it was arrived at.
EPF, EPS, EDLI & admin charges
Provident Fund is 12% from the employee and 12% from the employer. The part most people get wrong is the employer half: it is not all PF — 8.33% goes to the pension scheme (EPS) and only the rest to EPF.
CTC to in-hand salary
CTC is what you cost your employer; take-home is what reaches your bank. The gap is employer PF and gratuity provision (which never reach you at all), then PF, ESIC, professional tax and TDS on the way out.
Section 10(13A)
House Rent Allowance is exempt only up to the LEAST of three amounts. Most people assume it is whichever HRA their payslip shows — it usually is not, and the third test is what caps it.
State-wise PT slabs
Professional tax is levied by the state, not the centre, so the slabs and the amount differ from one state to the next — and four large states do not levy it at all. Pick your state to see the slab table and your monthly deduction.
Every calculation on this page runs automatically for every employee, every month — with payslips, PF and ESIC challans, and Form 16 at the end of the year.
